Masuria

Masuria is the region located in the northern part of Poland. It is famous for 2000 lakes. The largest ones are: Śniardwy and Mamry. Śniardwy is also the biggest lake of Poland. The biggest city of the region is Ełk. Other main towns of the Masuria are: Mrągowo, Szczytno, Giżycko, Ostróda, Działdowo, Olecko, Nidzica, Pisz. Masuria occupies the area of about 10000 square kilometres. The region is hilly, with lakes, rivers and streams. About 30% of the area is covered by forests.
