Kashubia

Kashubia is the region that is located in the north-west of Poland. The region is inhabited by members of the Kashubian ethnic group. It is also home to the Kashubian Lake District. Kashubia is divided into five cultural-language regions. The Kashubian language, which is one of the Polish dialects, is still spoken mainly by elderly inhabitants.  For a long time the region was called „Kashubian Switzerland.” The region is characterized by hills and lakes. The legend states that Kashubia was created by giants, whose footprints are visible on the hills.
